About the Artist

Ryan Conlin

Ryan was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in McKinney, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas. His artistic abilities began to flourish at a young age as his parents, teachers and friends encouraged him to create. From the very start of his artistic life, it was recognized that Ryan was very detail oriented. He takes great care to intricately capture the essence of landscapes, portraits and scenes for audiences, leaving no small feature overlooked. He specializes in drawing detailed works, using graphite pencil, pen & ink, sharpie, and/or charcoal pastel to create lifelike depictions that astound.

In high school, Ryan was a State Qualifier for VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) in 2004 and 2005, one of only five qualifiers to represent his hometown school district. Several awards later, Ryan began to commission work as a freelance fine artist.

As a graduate from Southern Methodist University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, Ryan received the Bobby Zelle Memorial Award; an honor bestowed only to the hardest working and highly talented top art students. Ryan completed course work in Orvieto, Italy; New York City and Taos, New Mexico. These destinations, along with several other European trips, served as the inspiration behind Ryan's finest work.

In recent years, Ryan discovered a newfound enthusiasm for photography and has worked as an assistant shooter and retoucher for several industry leaders in the Dallas area to hone his skills. His uncanny attention to detail transfers to photo retouching, a part of the industry he has become very passionate about.

Aside from his career in photography and drawing, Ryan enjoys playing competitive tennis, collecting box office movie ticket stubs, and the art of renowned video game companies such as Bioware, Ubisoft and Kojima Productions.
